Takes in the old wharf of Surabaya's Harbor where teak wood schooners that ply the Eastern island routes can be seen. Step aboard by all means. Then on to the old Dutch Quarter - the center of Surabaya in its prosperous late 19th and 20th century days as an important commercial center. Many fine buildings and quaint corners to see.

On to the old Chinese Quarter to see a fine Chinese temple and clan houses. Walk through the oldest wet and dry Traditional Market where a colorful array of spices are displayed. See the fish arriving straight from the boats, with a wonderful array of species. Walk on to the Arab Quarter and see the quaint Middle-Eastern style alleys, where colorful cloths, and mounds of dates and other Arab foods are sold. Ladies might enjoy trying some of the perfumes on sale, made up as you wait that accurately replicate famous brand perfumes at a tenth of the cost.

Take a becak pedicab on to the Tobacco Museum and Art Gallery, where a good lunch can be enjoyed to finish the tour.
